Roots are the number one killer of an older Michigan sewer line. A proper cutting head takes the line back to full bore instead of poking a hole through the middle of the blockage and calling it done.

Kitchen and bathroom sinks. Grease, soap and hair build up on the pipe wall until the opening is the width of a pencil. Cleared back to the wall, and we clean up the trap behind us.

A washer dumps a lot of water in a very short time, so a laundry standpipe that is even half blocked will overflow onto the floor. Cleared so the line can take a full discharge again.

The machines

Jeff’s runs RIDGID. A 1½-inch sink trap and a 6-inch clay lateral want very different tools, and using the wrong one either does nothing or does damage.

K-1500

The heavy sectional machine for main lines and sewer laterals. It will cut through almost any obstruction — roots, grease, scale.

Drum machine for tubs, floor drains and laundry lines — enough cable for a long run without being brutal on the pipe.

K-45

Hand-held gun for sinks and small traps, where a full-size machine would be the wrong tool entirely.

Jeff’s cleans sewer and drain lines. Septic pumping is a different trade with a different truck, and pretending otherwise would just waste a trip on both sides.

And if the line turns out to be broken rather than blocked, you’ll be told that straight away, along with what it will actually take to put right.
